Remote Learning Ideas:
From The Desk Of Mrs. Graff
Have a nice Spring Break! I'll be back April 7th!
A riddle for the next animal we will learn about when we return: I have a fluffy tail and like to eat carrots. Who am I?
I contacted four tech workers, of our school district, to help with the ipad tech problems. Here is their assessment:
Don't forget, we are all trying to pull together, to have things work. However, with technology it doesn't always work the way we want it to consistently. Hang in there and have a great break!
Friday is epic day!!! Go to your mailbox icon click, go to the communities bookshelf and click and listen to the stories. These books are way towards the bottom of the choices. Remember at the top you will see fall books, you scroll to the bottom and see the other bookshelves. This is where the community shelf is. I reloaded the site hopefully you can see the community books now. It's under the title I See Fall Leaves. It's in the middle.
When it says color don't, unless you print it out and have crayons at home.
FYI-All See Saw activities loaded can be used. They will all disappear, after Spring Break. They were loaded before this week, so some of them were on my plan this week and some are extras. Do any you want, they are for practice, the kids don't get a grade right now. Have fun with the extras!
Here are some coloring pages, you can print out and hang in your window, in the front of your house. This is for community support, as a HLS school. group. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?tab=rm1#inbox/FMfcgxwHMZLFXrwWMmBXvLbgNXTQKGKg?projector=1&messagePartId=0.1 Have fun!
Hi! I just found this online from the Brookfield Zoo. It's called bringing the zoo to you. I think it might be each day.
Troubleshooting with the ipad!
1. Close out of the program, press the dock 2x and swipe the app, to close it out.
2. Turn the ipad off. Press the button on the top and hold down until you see the swipe arrow to turn it off. Then, press the button on the top, to turn it back on.
3. Use the alternative non ipad idea given, next to the idea for practice, starting tomorrow. This is for practice so, it doesn't matter if you do the work on paper, ipad etc. Take a picture of your work, find it on the rainbow flower app, upload it to see saw and then I can see it.
It appears the only app having difficulty is Pearson. It may be the volume of users that are overwhelming their service. I wonder if we use it at a different time of day, maybe it may work or use the laptop.
Glitches on the ipad with Pearson have happened, since the first day we used it. We just keep trying and some things work properly and others we try on another day or they just don't work.
We have had this series nearly 10 years. Hopefully when we pilot a new series this won't happen.
Parents I think you are doing a great job! I'm seeing a lot of learning going on. Keep up the great effort!
If your ipad won't download pearson correctly, use a laptop. My ipad is also not working today, but my laptop is.
Thursday Math-Step 1 Fluency Template. Remember, do 2x, each time 1 min & 1/2. See if the second time, you can do more or faster, in the same time given. After you are done with both, check to see how you did w/ crayon, don't change your answers. Remember, as you check do the silent cheer, each time you have a correct answer.
Thursday Math-Remember, use the Picture Buddy app to draw it out, as your personal white board. Take a snapshot, of your work, on your ipad. Go to rainbow flower, open the pic, upload it, it's the square w. arrow on top, pic see saw and green checkmark 2x.
Move Like A Penguin:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpNs19ibY0Q&t=71s.
Thursday-On See Saw: do the digraphs Sh and Ch word sort. Only do the activity once, if you did it already.
Thursday-Here is a Biscuit book read aloud, to play from: You Tube. Put your device on mute and have your child sound out the words and read. They turn the page at a slow pace, so it should practice some of the sight words, we have been learning.
FYI-The other stories downloaded on Pearson, using the green arrow on the ipad, we already watched and read. They are optional for the kids to go back and watch again. If they don't work don't worry, they saw them already!
http://cincinnatizoo.org/?s=penguin+cam lots of fun penguin facts to see and learn about!
Wednesday's Eureka math:
Here is the Abuela story online link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bl3GIsyS66g&t=7s
Today you can do a See Saw activity, for math, on your ipad. The title of it is called: Winter Time 10 Frame. When you post it, I will see your answers.
Here is our math activity page today: Above.
On Monday use the addition Math Drills app. On Tuesday, use the Kodable app on your ipad. Use this app for only 15 minutes today. On Wednesday, use iready on the ipad for 15 minutes.
Here is our week's Decodable Reader. Be sure to read it independently, each day. Remember to look at the end marks, so you know how to make your voice sound.
You may choose to use the Teach Your Monster To Read app, on your ipad, for 15 minutes.
Here is a clue for tomorrow's ideas. The theme has to do with our last story we read, during E L/A. It's an animal that is black & white. I can't wait to share it with you tomorrow.
Have a great day! Miss you!!! Mrs. Graff
Parents before using Pearson Realize, on your child's ipad, you have to follow these directions, so it will work. This is for reading, to prevent glitches.
The district said to redo all my downloads, for unit 4 and have everyone go on this instead of the Pearson Success Net, because of the glitches. So here we go. Here is to a smoother day tomorrow! The login should be the same as for both Pearson accounts. Kim
E L/A practice: See Saw app practice: Type the middle sound activity. Remember go to the light bulb on the right tap it, then scroll down on the left, to find this lesson. Then, press the green add key, find your name press it, do the activity and then press the green check mark 2 times.
